Every Saturday at
HUNTINGTON secondary school, YORK, North Yorkshire.
Playing in the sports hall at 9am - 10:30am for 4-7 year olds,
then 10:30am - 12pm for 8 to 12 year olds
At £4.00 per
child your child receives some of the best Football coaching
there is. Our staff cover basic & advanced play,
quarterly personal Fitness and Performance tests, Skills Challenges
and Game play, which include SSG and Phases of Play.
Team
Building - Cohesion - Visual Development - Respect and Attitude
Coaching.
Each week the children
learn and develop new skills, such as Passing, Shooting, Dribbling,
Running with the Ball, Turning, Control and Attacking and
Defending Strategies. These are fundamentals in the game of
football, and all children are watched carefully on each aspect.
If needed they will receive 1on1 coaching to master the skill
they are struggling on.
Skill
Challenge Awards.
- Gold, Silver and Bronze (there is also
Platinum for the real pros!!)
Each week the children
undertake 5 Challenges per level, these involve Dribbling,
Shooting, Running with the ball, Passing and Control, and
Individual skill, (keepie ups!)
You achieve
points per challenge, and once you have passed all 5 you will
be awarded your Award.
Well done
to the 5 children who passed their Bronze award on Saturday
31st May.
Fitness
and performance Tests.
Each
quarter we measure each childs fitness and physical performance
levels. There are again 5 tests which include - AGILITY,
SPEED, POWER, V.JUMP, AND QUICK FEET. The tests are
recorded and compared each quarter. This is good as it keeps
the child fit and healthy and we can help and assist in an
area they may be weak in.
Game
Play.
At the end of each
session we finish off with a SSG (small sided
game) or a Phase of Play.
These games have
conditions in them and are constantly stopping and starting,
this helps the children understand their role in the game,
helps them make decisions, and maybe see things they may never
have been aware of.
As you can see Excel
Sport Saturday Soccer isn't just an average, jumpers for
goal posts kick around, every child is attended
for, looked after and carefully monitored to make sure he
or she is always on the right path to becoming a fitter and
better player!!!

Huntington secondary school houses some of the best facilities
available & Excel Sport provides enough footballs &
bibs for every player. Because our coaches teach in
school time during the week they teach some Saturday soccer
sessions according to the National Curriculum.
Target Wall:
Excel Sport owns a unique
7' x 12' inflatable wall which in summer our staff have it
to their disposal. The wall is lots of fun & extremely
technical giving players chance to literally have a target.
